RIP Barry Lopez

“What Lopez is after,” fellow Oregon author Robin Cody once said, “is nothing less than a fuller synthesis between humanity and place.”

We lost a poet, a dreamer, a believer, a curious citizen of the earth this weekend.

I learned about the composer Arvo Part by reading his work.

It seems very fitting to play this track and read this wonderful tribute to his life.

  1. As I sit here in my dining area/office space, listening to Arvo Part’s (just imagine the two dots above Arvo’s last name…) composition, the eye of my mind experiences yet another scene created by Barry’s powerful grouping of words. Thanks, once agaIn. Renee, for sharing another piece of your heart. Barry has been a favorite of mine for a long time…
