I started working as the Oregon Desert Trail Coordinator for ONDA (Oregon Natural Desert Association) in December, 2015, and am using my 15+ years of experience as a long distance backpacker to help this new route get established. (DREAM JOB!)
In 2016 I section hiked the 750 miles including a packraft alternate through the Owyhee Canyonlands area. Head on over to the Oregon Desert Trail webpage or Facebook page to find out more.
Jump to blog entries from the first section hike from late May-June in 2016: Anderson Crossing to Plush.
Or the section hike/packraft in from Anderson Crossing to Lake Owyhee in mid July. Trip prep blog here, and recap post here.
Or the 275 miles from Plush to Bend I completed in September.
Or the final 66 miles from Frenchglen to Fields I completed in November.
Or how it feels to be finished!
I got away for a few thru-hikes while working on the Oregon Desert Trail, the next one being the Tahoe Rim Trail in 2017.
