I spent the spring and summer of 2007 leading trail crews around the state of Colorado for the Southwest Conservation Corps. When I finished up in August, I decided to head out from Durango, where I had been based for the year, for a northbound thru-hike of the Colorado Trail.

After finishing the Colorado Trail I returned to Portland, where I soon got a job in Bend, as a field staff for a Wilderness Therapy organization, Second Nature Cascades. I worked that job for a while until I took some time off in the fall of 2008 to hike the Northville Placid Trail in New York with PCT friends NEMO and Pouch.
