Watch Oregon Field Guide

@WeAreHikertrash

All the Friday feels! Looking forward to some snow play this weekend 🤗❄❄❄
Hey all you dirtbags, guides, outdoor professionals...I'm talking to you 👉 thru-hikers, Outward Bound, NOLS, wilderness therapy peeps, trail crew leaders, environmental educators, come work with me at ONDA! We have a sweet job opening that is primarily field based...if you want to spend more time camping in the desert than in town, working with amazing volunteers from all over Oregon, leading our tribal stewards program and kicking ass for public lands, give this a look: www.onda.org/careers
Feed the mind...feed the body
My reading table is getting a little heavy....😏
Geology 🤩
Its #givingtuesday! Today I'm supporting @friendsoftheowyhee and the @pacificnorthwesttrail. Both have matching grants going so your $$ is worth double. Friends of the Owyhee is a new nonprofit dedicated to promoting conservation advocacy, stewardship, and recreation in the Owyhee region of Oregon, and the Pacific Northwest Trail Association manages the trail I will hike next! (Well, the next big one in a few years). Giving Tuesday is a great way to support the next trail you hike, or a cause that's close to your heart 💜
Yes! New shirt day 👣👣👣 #getONDAtrail did you get one too? Let's see it 👀
Our home away from home 😍
When on the Deschutes River, it's best to represent 🍻

@OregonDesertTrail

Our business partners make it happen 👍 They help us develop the Oregon Desert Trail and provide great gear and tools to help you get #ONDAtrail. Thanks for your support REI, Footzone, TOAKS, Sawyer, GaiaGPS, Backpacker's Pantry and Montbell!
Yes, all the ODT trail work trips are this fun ☺ It's truly impressive what we can get done if we all work together! (2020 trips will go live in February) #Repost @theoregondesert ・・・ Trails cleared. Trees planted. Fences pulled. Habitat restored. stewards mentored. See what your support of ONDA led to in 2019 by checking out the stewardship impact report on our blog (or in your email) now. . We are selling our Oregon Desert Trail hats online this week, just in time for holiday gift giving 👣👣👣😍 Get yours by heading to www.onda.org/donate (link in the profile) $30 will cover hat and shipping and make sure to include "ODT Hat" in the comment section. Please place your orders by Thursday night, shipping on Friday.
This 👉 "So I’m hiking the Oregon Desert Trail, in sections. Gnarliest form of hiking I’ve ever done. No blazes, very little water, harsh conditions, limited resupply options, extensive cross-country walking, etc. I used to be a photographer first, backpacker second. I would backpack just to get into positions to get the photos I wanted. That was all good, and I still do some of that. The backpacking goals have gotten bigger though. I’m not letting myself cherry pick as much. My photo collection, and almost all of IG, is cherry picking select spots at the perfect time of year and lighting conditions. But what would happen if someone with that background just took off on a many hundred mile adventure into the unknown, without the luxury of timing the best spots with the best light, and skipping all the boring stuff? Forcing yourself to go see all of it, with the slowest and most difficult form of transportation that we know of. I talked before about life after IG. Well, this is kinda that for me. Bigger plans in the works, but currently I’m section hiking the ODT and the Oregon PCT and enjoying the heck out of myself. This shot is a place I never knew existed: the Squaw Ridge Lava Beds Wilderness Study Area. I thank @theoregondesert for leading me here with their gps breadcrumbs. No other way I would have ever seen this area, and so many others."
When you complete the 50.1-mile Badlands Challenge you have also hiked the first 9 miles of the Oregon Desert Trail...only 741 more to go! Find out more about the challenge: https://onda.org/badlands-challenge
As seen at Moss Pass on the ODT, what a majestic tree 😍
Thanks to REI in Bend and Deschutes Brewery for hosting our "Boots, Bikes, and Boats in Eastern Oregon" presentation this week. We shared 27 different options to #optoutside for your next adventure in the high desert, including here at Morgan Butte...a great place to hike, bike or horseback ride in the Fremont-Winema National Forest, just over 2 hours from Bend. See you #ONDAtrail!
Watch out! Great photos ahead...@extreme_oregon is hiking the ODT and sharing some of his beautiful pics 😍
As seen in South Africa! Thanks to all you hikers spreading the word on one of the hardest and most rewarding long-distance hiking routes out there. 🙌
