I didn't get my new Pa'lante fleece in time for the Gila River packraft trip last week, but it's definitely going to be what I wear for the next few months for some extreme teleworking! 😎 I met both Handy Andy and John Z when we were on the CDT in 2015...its amazing to see more thru hikers making businesses out of what they love. Great job guys!

It's a sad day, month, year. Please stay safe folks! ・・・ Please postpone or cancel your Oregon Desert Trail plans due to COVID 19: Because no one can travel long distances on the ODT and be certain of avoiding any exposure to the coronavirus, and because anyone at any time can be a carrier of the virus without knowing it, it is clear that anyone traveling the ODT and resupplying in communities along the trail represents a serious risk to others on the trail and people in those communities—particularly high-risk individuals for whom the virus could be deadly. Under these circumstances, choosing to travel to—and start or continue—a journey on the ODT runs counter to widely-accepted medical, government, and scientific recommendations for not only avoiding exposure to the coronavirus but also for limiting the spread of COVID-19. For more information please see the CDC’s information on COVID-19: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/faq.html Limiting the spread of the virus—and the associated economic fallout—requires sacrifice from everyone. Because of the above, and in recognition of the increasing burden that healthcare and other vital services in trail communities will bear in treating their general populations, ONDA asks all those who are already on the trail—as well as those waiting to start—to cancel or postpone your journeys. The choice is no longer only personal, but one of social responsibility. We all must do everything we can to get beyond this pandemic as quickly as possible. On Monday, March 23 Oregon's Governer Brown issued a stay-at-home order; violations will be treated as a class C misdemeanor, punishable by up to 30 days in jail and a $1,250 fine. We are glad to see folks getting some miles in on their ODT hats!

Oregon company @sixmoondesigns has a pretty long history with the Oregon Desert Trail. Multiple hikers have used their packs, sun umbrellas, and shelters on thru-hikes of the trail, and this year we are stoked to welcome them on as one of our business members! Six Moon Designs held a fundraiser last month in Portland that raised almost $1,000 for ONDA, and they will have another exciting announcement about their support in the coming months. Hiking season is right around the corner, or at least it feels like it with all this amazing weather we've been having lately. We'll be making a few small updates to our ODT materials in the coming weeks, nothing major! But we have a suggestion for you to consider if you are mailing out resupply packages to businesses along the route. Please buy a milkshake or even donate a few dollars for the service while you are in the business. Some of these remote locations have limited space and limited resources, and showing your appreciation really does go a long way towards developing ODT advocates along the route.
